Our distinguished scholar in residence will be the Reverend Doctor Mark Morrison-Reed.

Mark Morrison Reed's autobiography

Mark Morrison Reed's bibliography

Morrison-Reed, a graduate of Meadville Lombard Theological School, has been active in the Unitarian Universalist Association, as well as in the Canadian Unitarian Association, which he guided to independence from the UUA. Mark has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the situation of people of color in UUism, including guiding discussions about achieving a multi-cultural, less oppressive UUism. Mark also advocates for gay, lesbian and transgender rights and same-sex marriage.

Mark has been a UU minister in Rochester, NY and, with his wife, Donna, co-minister in Toronto, Canada. He has served on the UUA Committee on Urban Concerns and Ministry, Commission on Appraisal, and Ministerial Fellowship Committee, as co-convener of African American UU Ministries and as president of the CUC.

Mark is perhaps best known for his publication, Black Pioneers in a White Denomination. At the conference he will talk with us about his upcoming book, Black Hippie: The Crucifix and Redemption of an Oreo and give two presentations: “In Between: The Memoirs of a UU Integration Baby” and “A Saunter Through the Sankofa Archives.”
