Guest speaker
We are very pleased to welcome this year's speaker, Professor Catherine
Keller, distinguished Professor of Constructive Theology at Drew University
and accomplished author (including On the Mystery: Discerning Divinity in
Process; From a Broken Web; and Face of the Deep, among
many other works).
After theological studies at the University of Heidelberg in Germany
(1974), Professor Keller studied for a Master of Divinity degree at Eden
Theological Seminary (1984), before completing, under the tutelage of John
B. Cobb, a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the Philosophy of Religion and
Theology at the Center for Process Studies at Claremont Graduate School
(1984). After three years as a Professor of Theology at Xavier
University, Professor Keller moved to Drew University, where she has taught
ever since.
With over two
decades of teaching and researching expertise, Professor Keller employs a
wide hermeneutical palette, including feminist and gender studies,
metaphorical, biblical, and literary readings, process and poststructuralist
philosophies, and practices of ecological and social justice. A
practicing Methodist, Professor Keller researches, teaches and preaches
across the spectrum of theological and religious studies in its
multi-contextual and mutli-religious settings.
Professor Keller will present probably on Thursday
evening and sometime Friday. We welcome presentations on any topic related
to liberal religion, but especially on themes connected to the work of our
distinguished scholar and/or on subjects related to the history convocation.
We look forward to your joining us to welcome Professor Keller to Collegium
in October, 2010.
